Flavors abound at inaugural street festival to benefit charities at The Shops at Highland Village
Highland Village, Texas – June 27, 2011 – The Shops at Highland Village will be transformed into an international food festival this month. The “Flavor Fest” will feature Japanese, Italian, Mexican and American cuisine from nine center restaurants on Tuesday, June 28 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 p.m.
Food tastings will be paired with more than 20 internationally themed street performers such as cancan dancers, a mariachi band, Grecian living statues, and a Chinese dancing dragon for guests of all ages. Local favorite disco band Le Freak will headline the event with a concert at 7:30 p.m. All ticket proceeds will benefit five area charities.
Tickets for “Flavor Fest” are now on sale and may be purchased at participating non-profits including Denton County Friends of the Family, Adult Day Stay, PediPlace, SpiritHorse Therapeutic Center and Southern Denton County Neighbor 2 Neighbor. Tickets purchased in advance are $20 for adults; $10 for children ages 12 and under. A family ticket package is available for $50 admitting two adults and up to three children. Also, for parents who would like to attend the events without their children, Adventure Kids Playcare at The Shops at Highland Village will be offering a 20 percent discount for Flavor Fest attendees who wish to drop off their children for an evening of Board Game Bonanza. Food tastings will vary from sweet to savory including appetizers, entrees and desserts. Participating restaurants include Blue Goose Cantina, Rockfish Seafood Grill, Mt. Fuji Hibachi Steak House, Potbelly Sandwich Works, Patrizio, Corner Bakery, Sushi Fugu, Buffalo Wild Wings and Snuffer’s.
“Flavor Fest allows us to combine great food, entertainment and shopping into a family festival that delights our guests while raising monies for charitable organizations,” explained Kelly Smith, Consumer Marketing Manager for The Shops at Highland Village. “Guests will encounter fun surprises such as the stilt walkers and magicians that will amaze kids and adults alike. Also, everyone can get funky to the nostalgic music of favorite guest band Le Freak.”
In addition to Flavor Fest, The Shops at Highland Village will also feature a complementary wine stroll hosted by Crush! A Wine Boutique. The wine stroll will feature five wine tasting stations at various retailer locations at the center. The wine tastings are complementary for the first 300 patrons. Registration for the wine stroll will be located in the fountain area between Patrizio and Chico’s beginning at 6:00 pm.
